STREET ART BIKE RIDE

The street art in Oaxaca is vast: talented artists, different techniques, messages, protests, etc. We will be cycling around 3 neighbourhoods of the city visiting interesting spots, art workshops, and of course… street art. We also will  be visiting some of the most well respected workshops in the city.

During the ride we will have time to share a local and organic drink or snack.

EXPERIENCE THE AUTHENTIC TRADITION OF DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS – TEOTITLÁN DEL VALLE

Join us on an adventure to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos with the hardworking people of Teotitlán del Valle. On our trip, we’ll meet a host family who will greet us with an incense cleansing before entering their home. Upon arrival, we’ll enjoy a traditional Muertos meal with our host family along with some drinks of mezcal and beer. During this Dia de Los Muertos experience, we’ll get to see our host family’s altar, leave our own offerings, and view other families’ altars. Along the way, we’ll learn about different customs in Teotitlán and how they compare to Muertos customs in different pueblos. Celebrate a genuine Muertos experience with our friends in Teotitlán del Valle and open your world to different cultural holidays and traditions.

ATZOMPA: INTIMATE DAY OF THE DEAD WITH A FAMILY OF CLAY ARTISANS

Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos with a family of ceramicists working out of Atzompa, Oaxaca. On this trip, you’ll learn all about Dia de Los Muertos and how it is celebrated by our host family. We’ll be able to participate in the tradition by visiting different altars, leaving our own offerings for ones we’ve lost, enjoying a traditional Muertos meal with our host family, and noticing the different customs each family has. During our expedition, we’ll also learn about our host family’s ceramics work. Atzompa is known for its ceramics since there are so many families practicing with unique techniques. Our host family uses different colors of clay to produce beautifully layered pieces. Join us on this once in a lifetime Muertos experience with our host family in Atzompa.

MEZCAL EXPERIENCE

On this experience you will get to know mezcal in depth, its history, context, variety, processes, mysticism, etc. We start by walking trough trails in nature where the producers select their agaves while we enjoy photographical landscapes. Afterwards, we’ll go to the palenque (mezcal distillery), where, while drinking artisanal mezcal, we experience process of cooking, grinding, distilling and tasting.

STREET ART WALK

Oaxaca is a magical city. The skies are deep blue in the heart of the valley. Women in embroidered huipiles, colourful houses, flowers on the trees, parades, and local people garnish the streets. And then there’s the street art.

We will be walking around 3 neighbourhoods of the city visiting interesting spots, art workshops, and of course… street art. They are everywhere: big murals, stencils, posters. Oaxacan Artists are abundant and very talented. It’s like visiting an outdoor museum.
