HIKING IN THE ENCHANTED FOREST OF IXTEPEJI
Visit the impressive mountains and the forest of Oaxaca like its magic with a spectacular view of the city of Oaxaca.
Join us for an adventure where you will visit a small and remote communities in Oaxaca. Learn about life forms, vegetation, and the history behind this forest. The adventure begins at 8AM to this town in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca to get to know it in depth. On the way we will find many species of trees, incredible landscapes, and possibilities to see wild animals.
HIKE AND SWIM IN SANTIAGO APOALA
Apoala is a really unique town with the one of the most impressive hikes around Oaxaca. Visit a spectacular waterfall before hiking and swimming all day long in one of the most remote destinations.
LUNCH, HIKE, AND SUNSET AT TEOTITLÁN
Definitely one of the best options for a half day adventure. You will visit a family of artisans in Teotitlán del Valle to learn about their culture and traditions and to enjoy a local and traditional lunch.

HIKING IN SAN PABLO CUATRO VENADOS
A non-touristic destination you probably haven’t heard of before, but nonetheless a secret worth sharing. Spend the morning wandering around the village and take a short hike to nearby waterfalls for a picnic and plunge into the pools.
ULTIMATE HIERVE EL AGUA HIKE + MEZCAL
At the break of dawn, discover Hierve el Agua to fully appreciate its majesty. Swim in the infinity pools and fully explore the petrified waterfalls.
Hike on an ancient trail through maíz and agave fields, and towards the end of the hike, dive into a beautiful waterfall where you can swim and refresh yourself. Lunch time will be at San Baltazar Guelavila, in a traditional mezcal distillery owned by a local family who will share their mezcal and a home-cooked meal with us.
ULTIMATE HIERVE HIKE + TEOTITLAN
To beat the crowds, we will visit Hierve el Agua early in the morning -6 AM- and appreciate this natural paradise before anyone else has arrived. We will hike 5 km to Las Salinas, a beautiful and refreshing waterfall where you can swim.
Later on, we’ll go to a zapotec community, Teotitlán del Valle, where a lovely local family will prepare a delicious meal for us and share their knowledge of textile traditions. We’ll learn about the process of dyeing wool with natural pigments and weaving.
HIKE SIERRA NORTE: PUEBLOS MANCOMUNADOS
In the northern mountains of Oaxaca, there’s a network of zapotec communities that cooperate with each other and have established an ecoturistic project which offers exceptional integrated trekking and outdoor experiences for visitors.
This project is the result of a community effort and it is considered a priority for both economic stability and ecological preservation. Local guides will take you into the woods and through villages while sharing their knowledge of the communal land, the stunning biodiversity of plants and mushrooms, and the history of the region. Choose between hikes along mountainous winding paths or wander through rich fields of agave and maíz.
EPIC HIKE ON ANCIENT TRAIL, LATUVI – LACHATAO

The Camino Real, a 18 km (11 miles) hike along an ancient trail, which connects two communities located in these beautiful mountains. In pre-Hispanic times, Mesoamerica was a spider web of interlinking trade routes, and one of these routes connected the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific, via Oaxaca. The path you will be travelling along is a part of this ancient road. You will feel history running through your veins as you walk along the trail; the lush vegetation, the mystic moss and forest fog, and the old abandoned huts will make you feel like you’re traveling back in time.
Connecting with the local community is a vital part of this experience. The hike ends at Lachatao, where you will encounter new friends and eat well while enjoying a lovely sunset.
