Es una entidad privilegiada por su riqueza biol\u00f3gica y sociocultural, y Oaxaca cuenta con la mayor biodiversidad y diversidad etnoling\u00fc\u00edstica del pa\u00eds. La complejidad de los ecosistemas (compuestos por al menos 26 tipos de vegetaci\u00f3n o asociaciones vegetales) y de los grupos culturales con sus respectivos esquemas de organizaci\u00f3n social y pol\u00edtica, hacen de Oaxaca un lugar \u00fanico en M\u00e9xico y en el mundo.<\/p>\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n es importante mencionar que Oaxaca tiene el mayor n\u00famero de hablantes de lenguas ind\u00edgenas, que representan el 34,2% de su poblaci\u00f3n total. Las lenguas originarias forman parte del patrimonio intangible de M\u00e9xico, adem\u00e1s, representan una de las conexiones m\u00e1s importantes que tenemos con las culturas originarias que habitaron el territorio mexicano en la \u00e9poca precolombina.<\/p>\n<p>Por sus caracter\u00edsticas geogr\u00e1ficas, pol\u00edtico-econ\u00f3micas y sociales, el territorio de Oaxaca se subdivide en ocho regiones: <i>Ca\u00f1ada, Costa, Istmo, Mixteca, Papaloapam, Sierra Norte, Sierra Sur y Valles Centrales<\/i>. Estas regiones est\u00e1n formadas por diversas comunidades que albergan culturas y tradiciones estrechamente relacionadas con las culturas aut\u00f3ctonas y nuestras ra\u00edces.<\/p>\n<p>La ciudad de Oaxaca (tambi\u00e9n capital del estado) se encuentra en la regi\u00f3n de <i>los Valles Centrales<\/i>, formada por un conjunto de tres valles fluviales: al noroeste el Valle de Etla, al este el Valle de Tlacolula y al sur el Valle de Zimatl\u00e1n-Ocotl\u00e1n o <i>.
