We meet at 8:30 AM in Macedonio Alcalá 802, Centro, Oaxaca de Juárez, Oaxaca, ring the bell ‘’A’’, between Bicibella and Café Punto Paz.
Enjoy this magical bike stroll through the agave fields and the small villages where many mezcal distilleries are located.
We start our day early and riding a bike, our first destination is a reservoir in the north of Teotitlán del Valle, one of the most beautiful towns in the central valleys. We are sharing a healthy breakfast next to the water while we contemplate the Sierra Norte on the horizon.
Our second stop is an incredible local house artisans where our friends produce rugs and work with natural dyes. The town itself is beautiful, we will have time to appreciate the history and culture on the streets. We are hosted by a brilliant woman who lovely explains the process and the meaning of every single detail on the rugs and how connected are to the zapotec elders.
After the visit, we are now heading to Tlacolula by bike. Next to the road and around t, it is full of agaves, corn and many more. In the end a Maestro mezcalero will be waiting for to host us on this distillery. We will learn a lot about history, plants, the process, traditions, culture, etc. They are producing mezcal by 6 generations. Of course, there is a mezcal tasting!
