Hike Bridge to bridge in the pueblos mancomunados
Fitness level: Intermediate / Group Size: Up to 10 people
WHAT YOU’LL DO
We meet at 7:00 AM in the Coyote Office in Macedonio Alcalá 802, Centro, Oaxaca de Juárez, Oaxaca, ring the bell ’A’’, between Bicibella and Café Punto Paz
Get ready to discover some remote villages. We are going to the mountains located north of the City. It will take us about 1:30 hours to get to Benito Juarez, one of the ‘Pueblos Mancomunados’. Once we are there, we will have a hearty picnic in the forest and time to stretch and walk around before we begin our hike to Cuajimoloyas by crossing a hanging bridge.
We slowly go deep into the forest to explore, as we appreciate the stunning trail full of flowers, magueys, corn, pines, oaks and beautiful mountainscapes. A completely different weather, ecosystem and communitarian organization. You will appreciate the rural life of the state, as well as the habits and customs.
As we reach Cuajimoloyas, we view the village in the distance between the clouds and the pine trees. This is a great opportunity to see the rural lifestyle, the complexity of Oaxacan society, compared to the one from Oaxaca city. Once we reach the village we will head to a local diner where a delicious lunch awaits us, mostly served with local ingredients (mushrooms are the speciality).
Once in the village we will have the opportunity to go on a zipline (cost of $200 not included) if you are up for the adventure. At the end of the walk an amazing hanging bridge at the top of the mountain is waiting for you with one of the most beautiful landscapes.
Outdoor activities carry risks, and you may be exposed to dangerous situations as part of this experience. Make sure you can participate safely given your abilities and the conditions (such as location, weather, and equipment).
