Etla: Hike, food and art
Guided Hike: 5 km / Fitness level: Easy / Group Size: Up to 8 people
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Start the day off with with a very fun and easy hike, walking along an old aqueduct (the water source of the beautiful town of San Agustin Etla). Arrive at an amazing old and abandoned machine-room of a hydro-electric power plant. Enjoy a morning breakfast/picnic and spend some relaxing time near the river. This hike offers some amazing views of Etla´s mountains.
We then hike back and head towards the Arts Center (Centro de las Artes de San Agustín Etla), where you will have time to visit this amazing building and the Art Exhibits. If you are lucky, you might even be invited to go inside an art class.
The Centro de las Artes San Agustín or “CaSa” is an art center, dedicated to artistic training, creation and experimentation. Formerly CaSa was “La Soledad” (a spinning and weaving factory), founded in 1883. In the 1980s, the property was abandoned and in 2000 it was acquired by Francisco Toledo in order to create the first ecological art center in Latin America.
We finish the experiencing by enjoying a great lunch at one of the local comedores, where local food will be served, most probably a delicious Mole.
