Discover Hierve El Agua at sunrise to appreciate the place to the fullest. Swim in the infinity pools and explore every corner of the petrified waterfalls. Walk on an ancestral path through corn and agave fields, at the end awaits a natural waterfall where you can submerge and refresh yourself.

Meet a local family from Union Zapata, who happily awaits us to toast with mezcal and share a traditional homemade meal.

Visit Hierve el Agua very early in the morning and enjoy the sunrise in this magical place, appreciate the site in all its splendor before the arrival of other visitors and tourists. We will walk 5 km to Las Salinas, a beautiful and refreshing waterfall to dive into.

Later, we visit the Zapotec community of Teotitlán del Valle, where a local family awaits us to share a delicious meal and teach us about their textile tradition: dyeing wool with natural pigments and weaving on a pedal loom.

In the mountains north of Oaxaca, there is a network of Zapotec communities that have been able to cooperate and organize among themselves to establish an ecotourism project that offers unique trekking experiences and other outdoor activities. This project is the result of a community effort and is considered a priority for economic stability and ecological preservation.

Walk with local guides on trails through the forest and among the communities and learn about the communal lands, the wonderful biodiversity of plants and fungi of the region and the history of man in these lands. Choose from hikes through narrow remote trails or through agave fields, corn fields and animal pastures.

Get ready to discover some remote villages. We headed to the mountains north of the city. It will take approximately 1:30 hours to reach Benito Juárez, one of the ‘Pueblos Mancomunados’. Once there, we will have a hearty picnic lunch in the forest and have time to stretch and walk before starting our hike to Cuajimoloyas across a suspension bridge.

El Camino Real, an 18 km (11 mile) hike along an ancient trail that connects two villages in these beautiful mountains. In pre-Hispanic times, Mesoamerica was connected by trade routes and one of these routes connected the Gulf of Mexico with the Pacific, via Oaxaca. This road was part of that route. You will feel history running through your veins as you walk along the trail; the ancient vegetation, the mystical moss, the mist and the abandoned huts that have stood the test of time will make you feel as if you have traveled back in time.

Connecting with the local community is an integral part of this experience. The hike ends in Lachatao, where you will make new friends as you share a table to enjoy a delicious meal while the sun sets.

In this adventure we are delighted at all times with the landscapes of mountains, clouds, pine trees and the picturesque villages of the Sierra Norte. An impressive trail full of flowers, magueys, corn, pines, oaks and beautiful mountain scenery. These villages are interesting and quiet. You will appreciate the rural life of the state, as well as its uses and customs. During the adventure you will have time for a picnic, meditation or other activities.

Apoala is a unique community in the Mixtec region of Oaxaca, a town located where the river starts, with a spectacular canyon that is home to vegetation and fauna of the region; the river flows through a picturesque and charming village until it falls into a canyon of turquoise blue waterfalls. Hike, swim and explore one of the most spectacular remote sites.

Join us for an overnight trip in the mountain village of Santiago Apoala. On this expedition, we will spend the night in cabin-style rooms and have the opportunity to decompress in this beautiful place hidden in the Mixteca Alta.
