Rock Climbing at Tlacochahuaya
Guided Climb: 5 km / Fitness level: intermediate / Group Size: Up to 4 people
WHAT YOU’LL DO
We will begin our tour in the early afternoon driving one hour to Tlacochahuaya, a small picturesque town in the Valley of Oaxaca. Upon arrival, we will take an easy 15 minute hike to the rock climbing area. Here you will be able to test your climbing abilities with a wide range of easy, intermediate and advanced level sport climbing routes.
Once we have all of our safety equipment on and are ready to climb, we will begin ascending distinct routes that give you a unique view of the valley. Below, you will be able to observe mezcal distilleries, farms and the surrounding mountainous landscapes.
After our first round of climbing, we will take a little rest to snack on some organic fruit and trail mix. Then we get back on the rock! This is an excellent time to test yourself on some moderate level climbs as to appreciate the distinct rock climbing styles that Tlacochahuaya offers.
Finally, we will collect the equipment and hike around the rock to a hidden picnic spot where you will enjoy a delicious reward for all of your hard work! After our picnic, we will head back to Oaxaca City where you will be dropped off at your hotel after an action-packed day.
