Skill level of rider:

Beginner

Never tried mountain biking or still gaining the basics of rolling over obstacles and controlling speed with both front and back brakes. Most comfortable riding at slow speeds and looking at the scenery while pedaling. Pedaling for 2-3 hours is an ideal day.

Beginner / Intermediate:

Still building confidence through steeper technical terrain, yet comfortable pushing yourself up soft inclines and rolling over ruts, potholes and roots. Can manage gear shifting on downhill or flat terrain while pedaling for 3-4 hours in one day.

Intermediate

A classic “cross country” rider. Enjoy an uphill push workout, but gladly will take on downhill singletrack while lifting up the front tire or rolling over mid-sized obstacles and dismounting at more technical sections. Can ride cross-country terrain for 4-5 hours/day or more if across smoother dirt-road terrain.

Advanced

Confident in gaining and controlling velocity while lifting up, catching air, rolling over, or pumping through obstacles at higher speeds, anticipating terrain and shifting gears accordingly. Ready to pedal for 4-6 hours throughout consecutive days.
